BrightMed festival and Gibraltar World Music Festival (GWMF) are being organised in Gibraltar - a very special place, not only due to its superb location in between crossroads of different cultures, but also as a bridge of understanding of different cultures, different spiritual and religious practices, a bridge between the North and the South, the East and the West. Gibraltar is a daily example proving that living in a peaceful and harmonious environment is possible.
The idea of sharing this reality with the world, which we call ‘convivencia’ – a peaceful co-existence, started with Gibraltar World Music Festival. GWMF was born in 2012 and over the years has brought to Gibraltar the best world music artists through prestigious and unique shows, with the most impressive final concerts at St. Michael’s Cave. Each year, the GWMF tells the story of a region of the world or a specific style of music with the ambition of delivering a strong message of peace, universalism and spirituality. We believe that these messages are the living examples of what the world needs to see and hear today more than ever.
We aspire to BrightMed becoming an international and apolitical meeting point for all people who would like to bring hope to the world and change it into a place to live which offers a brighter and promising future.
This June Gibraltar will once again host 3 days of BrightMed and GWMF events. These will bring to the Rock a diverse group of musicians, artists and thinkers from different parts of the World, all gathered around a controversial but exciting theme: BORDERS. Theme all the more appropriate this year, in light of uncertainties raised in respect of the our future due to "BREXIT".

Gibraltar World Music Festival
Wednesday 20th of June:
Street party at one Gibraltar’s most emblematic streets - Castle Street, also known as Calle Comedia. The stage will welcome local and international artists, such as Funkanda or Quarter to Africa, various choirs, dance academies and local performers.

Thursday 21st of June:
Magical concerts at St. Michael’s Cave: The first session will star Quarter to Africa - an uplifting Ethno-funk ensemble, fusing traditional Arabic “Makam" scales with African rhythms, jazz and funk.
The multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson is the artistic director for this year’s festival. He has created, especially for Gibraltar, a unique one and a half hour production called ‘Orphy Robinson and the Voicestra Polyphonic Collective’. The second act is made up of musicians from all over the UK who will explore the influence of black music on the British scene over the last 40 years. The long list of artists includes: Carleen Anderson, Christine Tobin, Cleveland Watkiss MBE, Llio Millward, Mae McKenna, Randolph Matthews, Phil Robson, Philip Achille, Rowland Sutherland, Tony Remy, Justina Curtis, Cosimo Cadore, Jeffrey Durrant, Omar Puente, Shanti Paul Jayasinha and Tiago Coimbra.
Concert tickets will be available at 92 Irish Town at £40 (General Public) and £35 (Senior Citizens and Students) and at buytickets.gi. Tickets prices will be inclusive of a shuttle bus service to/from the Cave. Pickup will be as from 19.00 from the Midtown Coach Park.
